You dare to be responsible for your life?

There is a saying that goes “When we do not take charge of our life, someone will. Since it’s not their life, they will almost certainly always mess it up.”
How do you view your life? Do you make and standby the decisions in your life? Are you and have you been responsible for who you are today?
Today, an interesting discussion came up that “not everyone is willing to make conscious decisions about their lives.” Most people know what they DO NOT want, however, the same cannot be said for knowing what they DO want. Even when they know, they may not be willing to be responsible of the choices they make.
Humans are biologically programmed towards self preservation, and to seek pleasure and avoid pain, thus it is not unusual that most people identify what they hate more than what they love, what they don’t want, rather than what they want.
However, there is a deeper dimension to this unique desire to put off life changing decisions.
This self defeating logic goes as follows:
We live our life surrounded by people.
Decisions that we make will almost always impact ourselves and others.
One day, we are faced with awareness that something is not too right.
We reflect or investigate.
We may then become aware of our choices, and the need to take action.
However, our ego convinces us that the risk is too great, what if we fail, what if we meet ridicule, what if… A thousand what-ifs all seemingly pointed straight at defeat.
We choose to avoid, forget or distract.
You see, Choices have Consequences. Because of the consequences, some people choose inaction, a state of paralysis, thinking that this is a better, safer choice. However, what makes us human is the need to become, to seek our destiny, to achieve. What we resist, persist. What we dreamt of, yet did not seek, will haunt us.
So how much would you want to take charge and be responsible for how you live your life?
