Finance 101 - Investing is like Cooking

Posted: 28 Jan 2012 | coaching, finance, investing, unit trusts, future, financial, cooking

Imagine you were going to have a gathering and you needed to cook for your guests. How would you go about preparing the meal? This is how some people I know will do it.

They will first go to the market and look at for the freshest vegetables to buy, the best cuts of meat to get, and the spices that smell nicest. They bring all these home, dig out a recipe book and then try to figure out what kind of dishes they can cook with the ingredients they bought. You might laugh, but that’s how some people are!

And you know what? While cooking the dish, they may find out that they are actually missing some ingredients, so they will...

Guestpost - The greatest gift of being a Coach

Posted: 8 Jan 2012 | Greatest gift, coach, Motivation, guest post

Article contributed by Qiuling. Being a coach is more than wanting to "make it BIG". Being a coach is the fulfillment of my client going beyond the perceived limitations and boundaries.

One of the greatest gift that a coach look forward is the commitment that a client give to their commitment to themselves.

Posted: 4 Jan 2012 | motivation, thought for today, career coaching

This is the journey of Jaq, a client of mine. This is NOT her real name to protect her identity.

Jaq is a management trainee in an off-shore bank. She engaged me to be her coach for career progression.

The first challenge was about Jaq feeling very stressed and upset because the project under her management is running behind schedule and its completion would potentially be delayed.

Jaq felt stressed because the action items were supposed to be performed by a colleague from another team and this colleague was unresponsive and did not prioritise his tasks.

Jaq felt upset because she lost control...

What's your 2012 new year resolution?

"Most people have spent their lives practicing stopping them from going for what they want and then beating themselves up about doing such a good job with it."- Paul Mckenna

Again and Again

Amazingly 2011, for the first time ever, I am able to fulfil most of the things I wanted to do, even though I ... to be honest, didn't set much goals.

I wanted to do no goal, but being a goal-oriented person, I couldn't. I just couldn't. I am unwilling to fathom on the idea...
